PDF to CSV Converter

Pull tables out of a PDF and save them as CSV files. Pick your separator, then open the result in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Free, and your file stays on your device.

Why convert PDF to CSV?

Tables in PDFs look neat, but they're hard to reuse. Copy one into a spreadsheet and the columns often land in a single cell.

CSV is the simplest way to move table data. Almost every spreadsheet, database and accounting app can import it. This converter finds the tables in your PDF and saves their rows and columns as CSV.

How to convert PDF to CSV

1

Upload your PDF

Drop the PDF with your tables into the box above. It opens right in your browser.

2

Choose a mode

Detected tables exports only the tables it finds. Full text grid exports every line as a row, for data that isn't laid out as a table.

3

Pick a separator

Comma works for most apps. Choose semicolon if your spreadsheet uses a comma for decimals, or tab for tools that expect tab-separated files.

4

Pick pages and files

Set a page range if you only need part of the PDF. Then choose one file per table, or all tables in one file.

5

Download

Click Convert. One table downloads as a .csv file, and several tables download together as a ZIP.

Private by design

Invoices and bank statements are read on your device and never uploaded.

Finds real tables

Ruled lines are checked first, then column alignment, so tables with and without borders are both found.

Correct text in any language

Files are saved as UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so accents and non-Latin text show correctly when you open them in Excel.

Safe to open

Cells that start with =, +, - or @ are saved as text, so a PDF can't slip a formula into your spreadsheet. Plain numbers like -12.5 stay numbers.

One file or many

Get a separate CSV for each table in a ZIP, or stack every table in one file with a blank row between them.

Free, no sign-up

No account, no watermark and no limit on how many PDFs you convert.

Benefits of converting PDF to CSV in your browser

A local converter is fast and keeps financial data private.

  • Your data stays private. Nothing is uploaded, so statements and invoices never leave your device.
  • No retyping. Rows and columns come out ready to import.
  • Works in every spreadsheet app, including Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.
  • Fits your region. Pick comma, semicolon or tab to match your software.
  • Safer files. Text that looks like a formula is saved as plain text.
  • Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How PDF to CSV conversion works

The converter reads the text on each page, along with where each word sits. It looks for ruled lines that form a grid, and falls back to column alignment when a table has no borders.

Each table becomes rows of cells. Values are wrapped in quotes when they contain the separator, quotes or line breaks, following the standard CSV rules. The file is then saved on your device.

Choose the right settings

Three settings cover almost every PDF table.

SettingOptionsWhen to use it
ModeDetected tables, or Full text gridDetected tables for reports and invoices. Full text grid when detection misses your data.
SeparatorComma, semicolon or tabSemicolon for Excel in much of Europe. Tab for tools that expect tab-separated files.
Output filesOne per table, or all in oneOne per table for clean imports. All in one to review everything at once.

Merged cells are split. Their text stays in the first cell and the rest are left blank, so the columns stay lined up.

Tips for clean CSV from a PDF

A little setup saves cleanup later.

  1. Tip 1:

Use a PDF with selectable text. For scans, run OCR PDF first.

  2. Tip 2:

Set a page range to skip pages without tables.

  3. Tip 3:

In much of Europe, choose Semicolon so Excel splits the columns correctly.

  4. Tip 4:

If a table is missed, try Full text grid mode.

  5. Tip 5:

Check merged header cells after import. Their text sits in the first column of the span.

  6. Tip 6:

Need formatting too? PDF to Excel keeps merged cells and bold headers.

PDF to CSV: frequently asked questions

How do I convert a PDF to CSV for free?
Upload the PDF above, keep Detected tables selected, and click Convert. Your CSV downloads right away, free and with no sign-up.
What is the best way to convert a PDF table to CSV?
The best way is to extract the table's own rows and columns instead of copying text. This converter finds tables by their ruled lines or column alignment and writes each one as a clean CSV grid.
Why do all my columns land in one cell in Excel?
The separator doesn't match your region. In much of Europe, Excel expects semicolons because the comma is used for decimals. Convert again with Semicolon selected.
Will accents and non-English text display correctly?
Yes. Files are saved as UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, which tells Excel how to read them. Accents, Cyrillic, Chinese and other scripts show as they should.
What happens when a PDF has several tables?
By default, each table becomes its own CSV file, and they download together as a ZIP. Choose All in one to put every table in a single file instead.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to CSV?
Not directly, because a scan has no text to read. The converter detects this and offers to open the file in OCR PDF. Run OCR, then convert the new PDF.
What if no tables are found?
Switch the mode to Full text grid. It exports every line of text as a row and splits columns at large gaps, so you still get your data.
Is it safe to convert bank statements to CSV online?
Yes, with this tool. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded. Cells that look like formulas are saved as text for extra safety.
Should I choose CSV or Excel?
Choose CSV for imports into apps, databases and scripts. Choose PDF to Excel when you want an .xlsx file with one sheet per page, merged cells and bold header rows.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Enter a range such as 3-7 in the settings. Leave it empty to convert the whole PDF.
