Sign an offer letter
HR sends an offer letter as a PDF. Sign it digitally in LuraPDF and email the signed copy back the same day — no printer required.
The traditional signing workflow is slow: print the document, sign it with a pen, scan it, and email the scan. LuraPDF eliminates every step between receiving and returning a signed PDF. Draw your signature with a mouse or touchscreen, type it in a signature font, or upload an image of your handwritten signature. Position it anywhere on the page, resize it, and download the signed PDF — all in your browser, with nothing uploaded to any server.
Two terms are often confused: an electronic signature (what this tool creates) is a digital representation of your handwritten signature — a positioned image overlay on the PDF. A digital signature (a different concept) uses a cryptographic certificate to prove the signer's identity and detect tampering. E-signatures are legally binding in most jurisdictions under the ESIGN Act (United States), eIDAS (European Union), and equivalent legislation worldwide. For most personal and business signing needs — offer letters, rental agreements, NDAs, expense reports — an e-signature is sufficient. LuraPDF creates e-signatures; it does not create certificate-based digital signatures.
E-signature removes the friction from returning signed documents. Here are the most common signing scenarios.
HR sends an offer letter as a PDF. Sign it digitally in LuraPDF and email the signed copy back the same day — no printer required.
Property managers and landlords send tenancy agreements as PDFs. Sign all required signature fields and initials pages, then return the document the same day.
Non-disclosure agreements are routinely sent as PDFs before freelance or consulting engagements. Sign and return without printing, scanning, or paying for a DocuSign account.
Government tax forms, declarations, and applications often require a signature. Sign the PDF form digitally before submitting electronically or printing for mailing.
Managers and approvers sign expense report PDFs to authorize payments. LuraPDF handles the sign-and-return without requiring an enterprise e-signature platform.
School forms, field trip permission slips, and parental consent documents are often sent as PDFs. Sign and email back instead of printing, signing, and mailing.
Electronic signing eliminates the print-sign-scan cycle. Here is what you gain by signing PDFs digitally.
LuraPDF loads your PDF using pdf.js for rendering and displays it in an interactive editor. When you draw a signature on the signature pad, the strokes are captured as SVG path data and rendered to an HTML canvas. When you type a signature, the text is rendered to a canvas in the chosen script font. When you upload a signature image, it is decoded in the browser. In all three cases, the signature is converted to a PNG image stored in browser memory. You then drag this image onto the page at your chosen position.
When you click Save PDF, pdf-lib takes the original PDF and embeds the signature PNG at your specified page coordinates as a PDF image XObject. The signature is written into the page's content stream as a positioned image operator — meaning it is baked into the PDF content, not a floating annotation layer. The resulting PDF is a standards-compliant document where the signature renders correctly in every PDF reader and prints at the embedded image resolution. No server receives any file or signature data at any point in this process.

A few habits make signed documents look professional and hold up in professional contexts. Apply these tips.
Use a tablet stylus or touchscreen for the most natural-looking drawn signature — mouse-drawn signatures can look uneven at small sizes.
Save your signature in browser storage after drawing it — LuraPDF remembers it so you do not have to redraw for every document.
For contracts with legal weight, retain a copy of the unsigned PDF alongside the signed version — the original shows what you agreed to.
For documents requiring legal-grade authentication (mortgage deeds, court filings), use a certificate-based digital signature from a qualified trust service provider — an e-signature image overlay is not the same as a cryptographic digital signature.
Place the signature precisely on the designated signature line — zoom in using the browser's zoom for accurate positioning on documents with small signature fields.
After signing, verify that the signature appears correctly by previewing the PDF in the browser viewer before downloading.
Drop your PDF into the box above, create your signature, position it on the signature line, and download the signed document in seconds. No upload, no DocuSign subscription, no signup, no watermark. Your document and your signature stay on your device from start to finish. Need to fill a form before signing, or protect the signed PDF with a password after? Every other LuraPDF tool works the same browser-only way.
